Nica Rabinowitz, the Founder and Creative Director of the Fiberhouse Collective began her studies in textile and fashion design at Parsons the New School for Design. After graduating Nica co-founded Artifact Textiles, acted as Director of Education and Programming at Manufacture New York, and helped form the weaving outreach nonprofit, Saori Arts NYC. Her practice is rooted in community supported textiles, handcraft, and revitalizing local supply chains. Nica is a craftswoman. A grower, caregiver, caretaker, educator, facilitator, artist, designer and maker.
Nica has taught accessible and hands-on workshops to people of all ages, aptitudes and backgrounds through the Grow NYC Green Market, Textile Arts Center, Parsons the New School for Design, Manufacture New York, Loop of the Loom, Children's Museum of the Arts and the annual Maker Faire. She was a resident at Icelandic Textile Center and recently completed a fellowship at Succurro.
